Harbor Hills Partners with Lake County Schools for High School Tennis Tournament

Venue: Clay Courts at Harbor Hills Country Club – We wanted to have the tournament in Lake County. Harbor Hills was the Perfect Venue.

Reason for Having Event: Give the student-athletes of Lake County Public Schools a chance to compete with each other for the opportunity to be called “The Best in Lake County”

Highlights: East Ridge tied with Eustis for the Girls Team Championship. East Ridge also took home the Boys Champions Team Trophy. Mount Dora and Eustis claimed the four top individual awards: Gold Medals in Line 1 Singles and Line 1 Doubles. (See below under “Individual Results”). East Ridge edged out Leesburg in the Boys Team results by 1 point.

Event was hosted by South Lake High School – Tournament Director was SLHS Tennis Coach Scott Armatti

Format: Single elimination tournament for Lines 1-5 Singles and Lines 1 & 2 Doubles

Boys Champion: Robby Simpson, Mount Dora, Line 1 Singles – The Best Boys Tennis Player in Lake County!
Girls Champion: Kamila Lamud, Eustis, Line 1 Singles – The Best Girls Tennis Player in Lake County!
Boys Doubles Champions: Robby Simpson and Patrick Deslaurier, Mount Dora, Line 1 Doubles – The Best Boys Doubles Team in Lake County!
Girls Doubles Champions: Kamila Lamud and Megan Dy , Eustis, Line 1 Doubles – The Best Girls Doubles Team in Lake County!

“The inaugural Lake County Tennis Tournament was a success and great event for all of our kids of Lake County. Thanks goes out to Scott Armatti for putting this event together and a special thanks goes out to Harbor Hills for hosting the event. We (East Ridge) was able to come home with the Boys championship and a share of the Girls Championship, but it took stellar play against great Lake County competition to get it done. We look forward to defending our championships next year as I know the event is going to be even better next season.”

“I talked to several of the other tennis coaches in the county last year. Our county teams are spread out into three other districts. We all really wanted a chance to compete with each other inside the county. So with with help from Coach Hyndshaw from Leesburg and from the great professionals at Harbor Hills, we managed to plan and put on a great event. I have never seen kids having so much fun at a tennis tournament!”
